About the Yorkville Repertory Company...

The Yorkville Repertory Company was founded about five years ago by a small group of professional actors, keen to work and anxious to provide stylish, well-written, and entertaining theater for the UpperEast Side, particularly the Yorkville area, where theater at affordable prices did not exist.

In its first season, the YRC presented very successful Equity Showcase productions of Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest, Agatha Christie's The Unexpected Guest, and Noel Coward's TheVortex. Our efforts were rewarded that year by being voted "TheBest Theatre on the Upper East Side" by the readers of The Resident community newspaper.

In our second year, since murder mysteries proved to bemoney-makers for us, we presented William Fairchild's The Sound of Murder, as well as Sutton Vane's Outward Bound and Under Milk Wood by DylanThomas. Our third season featured Tom Stoppard's comedy, The Real Inspector Hound, followed by an enormously successful staged reading of Thomas's A Child's Christmas in Wales, a benefit performance that raised a large sum of money for the Friends of the New York Public Library. We rounded out the season with our production of Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap, the most commercially successful of all our productions.

Our fourth season featured Constance Cox's comedy, "LordArthur Savile's Crime," based on a short story by Oscar Wilde.

In June this year, the YRC (with All Soul's Player's) presented Anton Chekhov's masterpiece, "The Cherry Orchard."
