The CAT Company was founded in 1997 to stage contemporary interpretations of classic theater and premiere original works by resident playwrights with a focus on exploring today's most important social and political issues. It casts without regard to "physical type" and its mission is to provide an artistic home to talented actors of all shapes and sizes.

The Character Actors' Theater was founded by New York City Police Lieutenant Victor Bell, who serves as the company's Producing Artistic Director.

Our first show is a contempory, urban production of Measure for Measure, by William Shakespeare, directed by Artistic Director Jay Stern.

It will play at Raw Space Theater at 529 West 42nd Street from October 24 through November 9, 1997. For reservations and show times, click here.
