Fall Sale -- prices slashed!!!

Where Eagles Dare studios (picture by Ben Strothmann)

...is the bold name of 3 new spaces designed specifically for theatre professionals -- ideal for rehearsals, classes, auditions, and readings. The studios offer the 4 Cs: low Cost, Convenience, Cleanliness, and Comfort. All spaces have warm, indirect lighting, with an option of plentiful natural light. There are comfortable chairs, of a unique steel-weave construction. There is no dance floor.

Studio A has a working area of 22 X 28 feet, with rehearsal props, storage, and a waiting room. (The space is ideal for photographers, with over 300 square feet of windows facing North and East.) This is the flagship space of Where Eagles Dare, but the rates are extremely reasonable compared to similar-sized spaces elsewhere.

Studio B is even bigger than Studio A, being 22 X 32 feet, with rehearsal props but no storage or waiting room. Its windows face East. Because it doesn't have a waiting room, it is even less expensive than Studio A. ***One-sixth off till Fall 2005***

Studio C faces South. It contains some rehearsal cubes, chairs, and a table. It is a cozy 13 X 26 feet, ideal for coaching or scene work. And the price can't be beat, starting at $10 per hour! ***One-sixth off till Fall 2005***

I created these spaces after many years of renting inadequate and overpriced spaces in Manhattan. Regular rates range from $10 to $24 per hour, depending on the nature of the use, the time of day, and whether it is a short-term or long-term rental (see tables). There is also a Yamaha P80 electronic keyboard, available at a modest rate.

The complex is in the heart of Off-Off-Broadway's new Midtown theatre district, just a short walk from Penn Station or Times Square. Location is 347 W. 36th St. suites 1201 and 1204. At latest count, there were 9 theatres on the same block. A place for young actors to spread their wings!

Hourly Rates

There are 4 main categories of rate: non-profit long-term, photo shoots, short-term, and festival special. Each category is subdivided into 2 subcategories: off-peak and peak.

Non-profit long-term applies mostly to teachers and other clients who book year-round. To get this rate, you need to book 20 hours a month and pay in advance.

Photo shoots apply to photographers. We accommodate photographers who commit to booking regularly by letting them have a certain amount of storage (a very limited commodity).

Short-term applies to people needing a couple of hours here or there. It also applies to commercial producers. A commercial producer is anyone paying Equity scale (not an Equity showcase or mini-contract).

Festival special is a new category, for producers of theatre festivals. You need to book at least 100 hours to get this rate. (You can pay for 100 hours and use, say, 80 hours, which is still a bargain.) This is an off-peak only rate.

Off-peak refers to hours not in high demand: 9-5 weekdays and 9-noon on weekends.

Peak hours are 5 - 11 p.m. weekdays and noon - 11 p.m. weekends.

To hold an audition, you must rent 2 rooms, one of them for use as a holding room. You must also have sufficient monitors (at least 2) to handle the load. The smaller room will be billed at the lowest available rate (but not the Festival rate, unless you have booked 100 hours or more.).

Yamaha P80 keyboard: $6 per hour.

If you give us a week's notice that you must cancel, we will give you a credit for any deposits and try to re-rent your slot. Otherwise, we will be unable to offer any refund or credit.
